Architecture of the Old City

The old city of Sozopol is situated at the central parts of the town – a Christian and medieval housing estate with more than 180 residential houses build in the middle of XVIII and the beginning of XIX century.

Those houses are monuments of culture. The housing estate together with the picturesque peninsula are in fact an unique museum of an universal scale, revealing the development of some of the most recognizable human civilizations.

Many of those houses are museums, galleries, art shops and small restaurants, where tourists can enjoy the environment and actually see the houses not only in the exterior but also on the inside.

An interesting fact is that the sand beaches of Sozopol are 17 kilometers long.
